The Soundcloud playlist for this month’s approved Submithub submissions is now up & running for August 2018.
“I've learned there are some things about which you don't need to think twice. Getting this was one of those things.”
"Get some hobbies outside of the black mirror of social media, pick up something physical, real and dig your hands and heart into it. It's good for the soul. Might also make you live longer."
"It doesn’t even really matter where you go, just getting out there is good. See stuff. Experience different cultures. Try to have conversations with people who don’t speak your language. It’s fun and eye opening and less boring than if you didn’t do it."
EPISODE 53 kicks off with some loveliness from YouYourself&I, and before it closes out with some Wearlyland, you'll hear stuff from Courtney Barnett, Modest Mouse, Flaming Lips and Justin Townes Earle singing about single mothers & absent fathers while his dad sings about not being anybody's daddy now.
“hard to choose a fav song from this album let alone an album from this band”
“In The Shadows reminded me of the first time I heard Sturgill Simpson’s album ‘Metamodern Sounds in Country Music’ which ended up being my album of the year in 2014. This has elements of psych, punk, and classic country with its sweeping reverb and spit shined steel guitar. Think along the lines of Marty Stuart meets Lucero for an idea of what to expect. The entire discography of this TX punk is gold.”
Since the year in question is 2011, and since 20X11 = 220, this yearly summary playlist consists of 220 nice tunes released in the year 2011. From 220 different artists. Reshuffled on the regular for repeat shuffles. You can’t argue with that math.
“This album is just the right amount of flowing, groovy, spooky, post surf that I need in my life.”
“absolutely amazing. you can hear, but more importantly, feel the truth in her music. she has such a natural feel and a melodic intuition that is wickedly developed. unique and perfect.”
