From the moment this site began it's journey as the 'Not A Record Label, Not Not A Record Label' called HI54LOFI RECORDS, throughout those awkward HI54LOFI music blahging years and all the way to right now with this HIGH FIVE FOR re-whatever, there has been one guiding force…

The long-running HI54 manta has been the main source of light emanating from the fog-covered (and very possibly haunted) lighthouse that sits astride the rocky Blahg Sea shoreline; blinking out the same coded message, day after night into day…

this isn't a competition [stop] it's a collaboration [stop]
Sure, some people will say that "collaborating" sounds nice on paper, but in the real world, it's actually *Dog Eat Dog* out there. And you know what? The current state of society (depending where you look) might suggest that those cannibalistic thinkers are correct. Maybe, but—wouldn't it be better if the dogs just worked together to figure out how to open the cupboard and gain access to that bag of dog food their master keeps hidden & out of reach? Y'know, and then they eat the dog food together instead of eating each other? Doesn't that sound like a better real world?

…partly because it's an alternative scenario worthy of some pondering, but mostly because I have to go write a bunch of other stuff for a bunch of other parts of this website. And another website.
