HIGHLY RECOMMENDED W/ RASMUS FROM TAPETOWN
#1 - WHAT IS THE ONE ALBUM (OR EP OR SONG) THAT YOU THINK SHOULD BE THE VERY NEXT MUSICAL THING THAT EVERYONE PRESSES PLAY ON THE NEXT TIME THEY FIND THEMSELVES THINKING “WHAT SHOULD I LISTEN TO NOW”?
Wow, that's a hard one since there's a lot of great music out there to recommend. But if I should choose one album it would be 'Joy as an Act of Resistance' by IDLES and I'd highlight the track 'Danny Nedelko'.
Simply for the reason that I believe Idles is one of the more sincere bands to emerge through the vail of the underground in later times. You listen to the tracks and you watch their live-performances and you feel them, its honest and they have something to say, great messages and they bring them forward beautifully.
It makes me extremely happy to see a band like this emerge and I think everyone into alternative music will appreciate it.
#2 - WHAT IS THE ONE MOVIE OR TV SHOW THAT YOU THINK SHOULD BE NEXT IN EVERYBODY’S NETFLIX QUEUE (OK, DOESN’T HAVE TO BE NETFLIX, WE’RE ALL INTERNET ADULTS HERE AND KNOW HOW TO FIND ANYTHING ONLINE, ONE WAY OR ANOTHER)?
I have two recommendations I'd make on this one. For aesthetics and just great atmosphere I'd definitely recommend everyone to watch the original french version of 'City of the Lost Children' by Jean Pierre Jeunet. He's made a lot of great movies, but this definitely tops my list.
For entertainment purposes I'd go for 'The King of Kong' a documentary where a film-crew accidentally stumbles upon a rivalry in the world of arcade gaming. It's absolutely unique and odd and you'll love every moment of it!
#3. I (AND BY “I” I MEAN “THE PERSON THAT IS READING THIS”) AM GOING TO THE BOOK STORE (OK, PROBABLY AMAZON) TO FIND THE VERY NEXT BOOK THAT I WILL BE PUTTING SOME EXTREMELY VALUABLE ‘ME-TIME' ASIDE FOR. WHICH BOOK WOULD YOU GET, IF YOU WERE ME (AND, I SUPPOSE, YOU HADN’T ALREADY READ WHAT YOU’RE ABOUT TO SUGGEST)?
For "knowledge" I would recommend 'Sapiens - A Brief History of Humankind' by Yuval Harari. It's the first book in a series of three and I'm currently reading the second. For all who are interested in anything related to the current world-state and how we interact as people ,this gives you a lot of good insight into "what" we actually are.
For leisure I'd go with a classic: 'The Count of Monte Cristo" by Alexandre Dumas. It's just a fucking great story - I want to say why I like it so much, but it would spoil the fun.
#4 - WHAT IS THE ONE WEBSITE (OR JUST ANY OLD INTERNET THING: APP, GIF, SERVICE, WHATEVER) THAT YOU WOULD GET REALLY DOWN IN THE DUMPS ABOUT IF IT WERE TO SUDDENLY GO AWAY?
Online/cloud-based calendars - I finally learned to use them properly a couple of years ago and I'd be completely lost without the option.
#5 - AND FINALLY… PLEASE GIVE ONE COMPLETELY UNAIDED RECOMMENDATION THAT YOU THINK EVERYONE SHOULD START DOING / USING / WATCHING / EATING / THINKING / QUITING / ETC-ING TO MAKE THEIR LIVES A LITTLE BIT MORE BETTER AND/OR BEARABLE.
Stop watching or reading regular news. It only puts fear and worries into peoples heads. You'll have a much happier life without it.
OK folks, there you have it. Things that Rasmus thinks you should consider incorporating into your day/life. Before you log off and go block all those toxic 24 hour news channels from your life, make sure to follow Tapetown on the Facebook / Instagram / Twitter and then also give the latest Tapetown Session a listen below (with the very new-to-the-scene Danish band ‘Mavourneen’)…
…and if you like what you’re hearing, go do some further tapetown-flavoured session exploring over on their Website / Youtube.
