This isn’t a competition. It’s a collaboration.
All in ODDS
Since I have a blog that shares things I like, I figured I would start compiling monthly lists of available-on-Tubi titles that I think are worth adding to your own Watchlist, just in case anyone else out there is also looking to fish from the same free-to-stream waters. So here’s five for October…
A monthly playlist for the Soundcloud-linked submissions that get approved on Submithub for a HI54 Mix CD feature during the month of October 2020.
“This album is so good. I can't stop listening to it. Makes me want to take a road trip to Nashville.”
“There’s just something so magical about picking up a release on vinyl from your local record shop and the curated process of browsing through what a store has is an added bonus. It’s a great way to support local businesses and artists so put your mask on and go do that!”
In search of way to start uploading more + longer mixes to Mixcloud, I ended up rediscovering some iTunes organizational tools I had setup back when ‘Mix Tape Radio’ was a 24/7 internet radio stream, which eventually led to a new mix series idea called THE MIX TAPE RADIO MIX CDs —and here’s DISC 03.
10 more retro titles that I’d recommend adding to your hacked Sega Mini if you’re an old millennial like me who pretty much stopped playing video games in the late 90s but is now looking to revisit that golden era of gaming with hard-to-impress 2020 glasses on (Sega Master System + Turbo Grafx-16 edition).
Episode 160 of The Mix Tape Radio Show features 8 gems shuffled out of the ongoing HI54 Mix CD ‘YOUR WEEKLY 9(to)5 EH’ - ft. Angie McMahon, Black Belt Eagle Scout, Mirror Shot, Baseball Dad + a bunch more nicely-flavoured headphone goodness.
“Your own life is just as it needs to be, how could it not be. So forget about that, and try to make other people’s lives better.”
“Another funny and sad electronic EP from my best pal Benjamin Shaw. I'm absolutely loving these Megadead releases.”
“No matter what time of year I listen to Cut Worms, the music sends me to summer and to a back porch with a cold beer in hand. Can't ask for much better than that.”
Episode 158 of The Mix Tape Radio Show features 8 gems pulled from my personal Bandcamp Collection - ft. Fair Mothers, Marlowe, Magana, Misty Moon + a bunch more Available-on-Bandcamp-flavoured headphone goodness (ps: Friday, October 2nd is another special ‘Bandcamp Friday’).
“Rather than recommending to do something, I recommend to avoid two things. If you’re struggling with depression try to avoid: Pornography & Sugar.”
