#1 - WHAT IS THE ONE ALBUM (OR EP OR SONG) THAT YOU THINK SHOULD BE THE VERY NEXT MUSICAL THING THAT EVERYONE PRESSES PLAY ON THE NEXT TIME THEY FIND THEMSELVES THINKING “WHAT SHOULD I LISTEN TO NOW”?
Johnny Guitar Watson, “Lovin You”.
Paul Simon’s self titled album.
Or anything by my dad.
#2 - WHAT IS THE ONE MOVIE OR TV SHOW THAT YOU THINK SHOULD BE NEXT IN EVERYBODY’S NETFLIX QUEUE (OK, DOESN’T HAVE TO BE NETFLIX, WE’RE ALL INTERNET ADULTS HERE AND KNOW HOW TO FIND ANYTHING ONLINE, ONE WAY OR ANOTHER)?
I just saw the Ruth Bader Ginsberg documentary (RBG) that just came out. Really liked it.
I’ve been on a documentary kick these days, maybe because I live down the street from Ted Rogers Hot Docs Cinema. I’ve been finding docs more interesting than most tired old plots that Hollywood scoots out lately. Because they’re real stories! But don’t get me wrong, I love going to the movies to see anything. I’ll literally watch almost anything in a theatre.
#3. I (AND BY “I” I MEAN “THE PERSON THAT IS READING THIS”) AM GOING TO THE BOOK STORE (OK, PROBABLY AMAZON) TO FIND THE VERY NEXT BOOK THAT I WILL BE PUTTING SOME EXTREMELY VALUABLE ‘ME-TIME' ASIDE FOR. WHICH BOOK WOULD YOU GET, IF YOU WERE ME (AND, I SUPPOSE, YOU HADN’T ALREADY READ WHAT YOU’RE ABOUT TO SUGGEST)?
One Hundred Years of Solitude, Gabriel Garcia Marquez has been my favourite book since I was a teenager.
That and ‘The Heart is a Lonely Hunter’ by Carson McCullers are my desert island books.
#4 - WHAT IS THE ONE WEBSITE (OR JUST ANY OLD INTERNET THING: APP, GIF, SERVICE, WHATEVER) THAT YOU WOULD GET REALLY DOWN IN THE DUMPS ABOUT IF IT WERE TO SUDDENLY GO AWAY?
This video of a guy falling for 9 seconds.
Pretty much any videos of anybody falling.
#5 - AND FINALLY… PLEASE GIVE ONE COMPLETELY UNAIDED RECOMMENDATION THAT YOU THINK EVERYONE SHOULD START DOING / USING / WATCHING / EATING / THINKING / QUITING / ETC-ING TO MAKE THEIR LIVES A LITTLE BIT MORE BETTER AND/OR BEARABLE.
I highly recommend getting a record player. And a dog. And then listening to a record with your dog.
OK folks, there you have it. Things that Emilie Mover thinks you should consider incorporating into your day/life. Before you log off and go find a dog to go with your record player or vice versa, make sure to follow Emilie on Facebook / Twitter / Instagram and go give 'Night Owl' a front to back listen over on Spotify.
