“Too hard to list just one. Here’s a list of ten books I love…”
This isn’t a competition. It’s a collaboration.
FANDCAMP: Spooky Love
“The wistful country atmosphere coloured with both sadness and strangeness, mining the traditional American style for its rich seams of mystery and heartbreak”
An unpaid political message from: PLEASE DON'T VOTE LIBERAL OR CONSERVATIVE, THEY'RE BOTH ACTUALLY NO GOOD
Because, after all, that's the nice thing about living in Canada: we have more than two parties to pick from. And this year, more than ever, it really feels like we need to collectively exercise our other options.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED W/ LAURENT BOURQUE
“What I can definitely recommend is eating a peach during peach season - Have you ever had one straight from a tree under the early august sun? It's the best thing on earth and will definitely improve your life.”
FANDCAMP: One Go Around
“This album is a real gem. I was quite suprised to find such an intimate album here on bandcamp. It touched my soul from the very first tone. I have listened to it maybe 50 times. It doesn't bore me at all.”
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED W/ AMPARO
“Alright, this suggestion might be an odd one but it’s something I think more people (especially us younger folk) should be doing. Go talk to your parents and grandparents and learn from their life stories.”
EPISODE 109 | THE MIX TAPE RADIO SHOW
Episode 109 of The Mix Tape Radio Show features 8 gems shuffled out of the HI54 Mix CD ‘MORNINGS ON MOUN.TOWN/FM’ - ft. Joanna Sternberg, a Singer of Songs, Florist + a whole bunch more headphones goodness.
FANDCAMP: All Mirrors
“Operatic, tempestuous, and impassioned. Brimming with power and emotion. The aural equivalent of exorcising a past lover (with the help of a massive string section). AOTY.”
SubmitCloud | October 2019
A monthly playlist for the Soundcloud submissions that get approved on Submithub for a HI54 Mix CD during the month of October 2019.
Canadian Political Parties as their CLOSEST American Comparison
The Canadian election is October 21st, and since HI54 is a Canadian blog, I figured I'd break down our 🇨🇦 political parties by their best American comparisons.
FANDCAMP: Iowa Dream
“How is it possible that there is this much amazing unreleased Arthur Russell music? So prolific. This album has some absolute stone cold gems on it, can't wait for the vinyl to show up!”
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED W/ TIMOTHY BLACKMAN
“Go down to the ocean. Take a swim.”
