“Chia seeds! Add them to water or oatmeal. They give so much energy and nutrients.”
This isn’t a competition. It’s a collaboration.
All in ODDS
Mix Tape Radio: Episode 056
Kicks off with loveliness from Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin and before Robert Lester Folsom starts singing 'see you later', you'll hear: a corker from Alabama Shakes, Mountain Man covering a mountain man, GRANDMAS with the all the As taken out, Will Johnson, T.Rex, The Weather Station and a bunch more great stuff.
FANDCAMP: Stranger in the Alps
"hauntingly beautiful, these songs pull emotions out of me like long noodles in a hot soup which then I can more or less tenderly soak back up"
FANDCAMP: Wherever You Go, I'll Protect You
“I'm a bit of a sucker for jams that mix in old audio samples; always seems to trigger a gravitational force that pulls me further into the headphones for a closer listen. This EP has got that thing. And you’ll find yourself wanting to go back to the start once you get to the end."
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED W/ WILL STEWART
“Unplug from social media as much as possible. I'm trying to call people more now rather than just texting or messaging, etc.”
SubmitCloud | February 2018
The Soundcloud playlist for this month’s approved Submithub submissions is now up & running for February 2018.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED W/ ANDREW STOCKER
“Let’s all quit smoking together! You go first.”
Mix Tape Radio: Episode 060
EPISODE 060 kicks off with some Wilder Maker and closes out with a track from that Elliott Smith cover album from Seth Avett & Jessica Lea Mayfield that I totally forgot had happened. In between those, you'll hear some new-to-me Isaac Brock solo stuff, newish Beirut and oldish Cory Branan… and a whole bunch more.
FANDCAMP: What Will Destroy You
“Expected this to be good but, wow, I didn't expect it to be this awesome! If you love White Lighter don't hesitate, you'll love this!”
FANDCAMP: Among Horses I
“Dan Willson of Withered Hand lore is the best writer of melodies currently alive (believe me, I've looked). He hasn't written a song I don't adore. The streak continues here. I'm also happy to report that the songs from a Singer of Songs are also quite lovely, especially the last. Buy this and everything these two outfits have ever produced.”
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED W/ PAT MOON
“I like to go for walks with headphones or a camera every day. I think it's important to take some time to let your mind be still, to just breathe.”
MIX TAPE RADIO: EPISODE 063
EPISODE 63 kicks off with the lovingly lofi Katie Von Schleicher, and before things close out with an absolute surprise from LUKA, you'll hear: Joshua James singing Modest Mouse, Pet Cemetary sampling I Heart Huckabees, Ed Harcourt, my favourite chorus of the year from (Ariel Sharratt & Mathias Kom) and even more 'good for the ears' things.
