HIGHLY RECOMMENDED W/ PAT MOON
#1 - WHAT IS THE ONE ALBUM (OR EP OR SONG) THAT YOU THINK SHOULD BE THE VERY NEXT MUSICAL THING THAT EVERYONE PRESSES PLAY ON THE NEXT TIME THEY FIND THEMSELVES THINKING “WHAT SHOULD I LISTEN TO NOW”?
I haven't been listening to a lot this year, especially new music, but what I have been getting into tends to be the only thing that I’ll listen to for months. Right now, it’s Jenny Hval’s Blood Bitch. There's so much in that album that inspires me.
#2 - WHAT IS THE ONE MOVIE OR TV SHOW THAT YOU THINK SHOULD BE NEXT IN EVERYBODY’S NETFLIX QUEUE (OK, DOESN’T HAVE TO BE NETFLIX, WE’RE ALL INTERNET ADULTS HERE AND KNOW HOW TO FIND ANYTHING ONLINE, ONE WAY OR ANOTHER)?
Casual. It's a Hulu show that I discovered around the holidays last year when I was staying in upstate NY. I ran through the first season in a night or two and then watched the second season as it aired. It was one of those shows I liked to watch one morning every week with a cup of coffee.
Film? For something suspenseful and creepy watch 'Honeymoon'.
#3 - I (AND BY “I” I MEAN “THE PERSON THAT IS READING THIS”) AM GOING TO THE BOOK STORE (OK, PROBABLY AMAZON) TO FIND THE VERY NEXT BOOK THAT I WILL BE PUTTING SOME EXTREMELY VALUABLE ‘ME-TIME' ASIDE FOR. WHICH BOOK WOULD YOU GET, IF YOU WERE ME (AND, I SUPPOSE, YOU HADN’T ALREADY READ WHAT YOU’RE ABOUT TO SUGGEST)?
It's been at least a year since I've read it, but I would pick up the novella 'Women' by Chloe Caldwell. I found it in the small press section of Powell’s and it's been in my small stack of favorite books since.
#4 - WHAT IS THE ONE WEBSITE (OR JUST ANY OLD INTERNET THING: APP, GIF, SERVICE, WHATEVER) THAT YOU WOULD GET REALLY DOWN IN THE DUMPS ABOUT IF IT WERE TO SUDDENLY GO AWAY?
David Dean Burkhart's Youtube channel. I've seen most of his videos multiple times. I'm not sure it's something I would ever get tired of, they’re flawless and entrancing every time.
#5 - AND FINALLY… PLEASE GIVE ONE COMPLETELY UNAIDED RECOMMENDATION THAT YOU THINK EVERYONE SHOULD START DOING / USING / WATCHING / EATING / THINKING / QUITING / ETC-ING TO MAKE THEIR LIVES A LITTLE BIT MORE BETTER AND/OR BEARABLE.
I like to go for walks with headphones or a camera every day. I think it's important to take some time to let your mind be still, to just breathe.
OK folks, there you have it. Things that Pat Moon thinks you should consider incorporating into your day/life. Before you go turn off the computer and head outside for a walk, follow Kate on Twitter / Facebook / Tumblr and check out her Bandcamp page for things you should stick in your headphones for your next stroll.
