This isn’t a competition. It’s a collaboration.
All in MIXES
EPISODE 71 mixes up some old songs with some new songs with some not that old but not that new. The end result is another tasty soundtrack for a small part of your day. So get out the headphones, put them on your head & press play.
Things kick off with a track from Shakey Graves and finish with a track from the Growlers. In between that you'll find something from Gorgeous Bully, Bonnie 'Prince' Billy craving dumplings (again), Foxes In Fiction, Field Report, Field Medic… and A bunch of other great artists that don't start with 'F'.
EPISODE 081 kicks off with Jenn Grant asking to be taken to the bar so she can see if she can fight, and before a Maggot Brain transitions into an Orange Peeler, you'll hear gems from Sam Moss, Addie Pray, Evening Hymns, and a bunch more goodness.
EPISODE 073 kicks off with an oldie from Lee Hazlewood, and before things close out with an oldie from Mulatu Astatke you'll hear a not quite as oldie from Yo La Tengo, a brand new one from Ings, Nap Eyes, Buddy Holliday and even more goodness.
EPISODE 082 kicks off with an oldie from Willie Nelson, and before things close out with an oldie from Judee Sill, you'll hear gems from Margaret Glaspy, Chris Staples, Roger Miller, BADBADNOTGOOD, and a bunch more good good not bad tunes.
EPISODE 087 kicks off with an unfortunately always politically relevant Todd Snider song, and before things close out with a new one from The Radio Dept, you'll hear Leonard Cohen, La Luz, Hiss Golden Messenger, and a bunch more.
EPISODE 085 kicks off with Bowerbirds being overcome with light, and before things close out with Kevin Devine's damn dad, you'll hear some new stuff from William Ryan Fritch, some old stuff from Billy Joe Shaver, Deer Scout, Dr. Dog, and more.
EPISODE 076 (which is a little behind its bi-weekly schedule, sorry, I've been moving towns) kicks off with some summer time musings from Jonathan Richman and before things close out with Beach House floating thru your headphones, you'll hear some great tunes from Mutual Benefit, Howard Tate, Lomelda, and a bunch more.
EPISODE 074 kicks off with the excellent Horse Teeth, and before things close out with a stone cold beauty from Mothers, you'll hear: something off the latest Frankie Cosmos album, some oldies from Peter Green and Link Wray, a taste from the upcoming Andy Shauf album, plus a bunch more good stuff.
EPISODE 67 kicks off with some old skool Bobbie Gentry (who I've been listening to thanks to Season 2 of Fargo) and before things close out with American “hey… is that the guy from Car Seat Headrest?” Holly, you'll hear ace tunes from Twerps, Joan Shelley, Matthew E White + a handful more makers of tasty ear candy.
EPISODE 084 kicks off with something from Okkervil River's excellent new album, and before things close out with something from A Singer Of Songs excellent new album you'll hear a bunch of other tracks off excellent new albums.
EPISODE 70 has some old tunes and some new tunes and some oldish new tunes and some newish old tunes and even a new cover of an old tune. The end result is a pretty sweet soundtrack to a 36 minute part of your day.
