EPISODE 181 | THE MIX TAPE RADIO SHOW
In search of a routine more likely to get a fresh HI54 Mix Tape out the door every week, I started mixing my mix tape making headphone time with my HI54 Mix CD updating headspace near the end of 2019 and I’ll be damned if it didn’t turn out to be one those rare “this seems like a good idea” ideas that actually turned out to be a good idea… ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ … who knows, maybe the rumours are true and one does get better at things if they just keep plugging along?

MTR - EPISODE 181
{a ‘2021-Flavoured’ episode}Episode 181 was created while shuffling around in the ongoing HI54 Mix CD ‘EVERYTHING LIKED IN < INSERT CURRENT YEAR >’, which is a Spotify playlist I keep stocked with all the songs from the current year that catch my headphones fancy (so it wouldn’t be the worst idea to follow that playlist on Spotify for future repeat shuffle updates, as this playlist gets updated every week and gets pretty big/awesome by the calendar’s last page - and is already over 300+ tracks from 300+ artists in the first 3 months of the year).

If you find yourself enjoying any of the above, there are some pretty decent odds that following HI54LOFI out on the internets would not be the worst use of one of your internet clicks today (I tend to share things like the above on the regular-ish… so maybe we operate on similar wavelengths?)…
…and it probably wouldn’t be too bad of an idea to follow/shuffle thru the rest of the ‘EVERYTHING LIKED IN < INSERT CURRENT YEAR >’ Mix CD that this week’s episode of MTR was pulled from, because something tells me if you liked the 8 songs featured in the latest MTR episode, chances are good you’ll like a good chunk of the hundreds of other great releases from 2021 that you’ll find in the full Spotify playlist throughout the year.
And since Spotify/streaming is great for discovering, sharing & keeping track of music but not so very good in the way creators are paid for their work, especially in comparison to what others are making off renting out access to their work, I’ve started keeping a Buy Music Club list going for all the ‘available on Bandcamp’ tracks that get added to the above Spotify playlist + I’ve also started a BNDCMPR playlist that you can listen to like a Spotify playlist, except all the tracks are linked to the artist’s Bandcamp page— so check those out whenever you find yourself wanting to reward your ears while also directly sending out support/compensation to those who help keep our lives nicely soundtracked (and here’s an article on the topic of making streaming better/fairer if interested, because there’s no good reason why we can’t be doing better with all this stuff).
