* Providing the A's to the 5 HIGHLY RECOMMENDED Q's today is The Big Net — a trio of music-makers out of New York whose debut full-length ‘In the Service of Song’ comes out in January 2021, but you can pre-order / catch the first couple singles over on Bandcamp now (and you can hear album closer ‘Bird’ on the HI54 Mix CD ‘MOUNTOWN LIFE’)

#1 - WHAT IS THE ONE ALBUM (OR EP OR SONG) THAT YOU THINK SHOULD BE THE VERY NEXT MUSICAL THING THAT EVERYONE PRESSES PLAY ON THE NEXT TIME THEY FIND THEMSELVES THINKING “WHAT SHOULD I LISTEN TO NOW”?

Kevin: MF Doom has a live album called “Live From Planet X” that i found on cd recently. I keep it in my car and it makes me stoked to be alive. The energy is pretty unreal.

Logan: Adrian Legg - Guitars and Other Cathedrals. His melodies are beautiful and his fingerpicking is just on another level.

Andrew: Kev put together a very nice playlist on our Spotify page (account?) recently called blow wind blow. Some real favorites and even a few friends. Also... Cattle Call by Eddy Arnold.

#2 - WHAT IS THE ONE MOVIE OR TV SHOW THAT YOU THINK SHOULD BE NEXT IN EVERYBODY’S NETFLIX QUEUE (OK, DOESN’T HAVE TO BE NETFLIX, WE’RE ALL INTERNET ADULTS HERE AND KNOW HOW TO FIND ANYTHING ONLINE, ONE WAY OR ANOTHER)?

Andrew: I enjoyed watching How To with John Wilson more than anything in a long time. You will laugh, cry, wince, be confused... NYC is a magic place, and people watching is one of my fav pastimes.

Kevin: I was gonna say the same thing! “how to with john wilson” is quite literally visual poetry.

Logan: If you’ve never seen Gilmore Girls, do yourself a favor and watch it while you’re eating breakfast.

#3. I (AND BY “I” I MEAN “THE PERSON THAT IS READING THIS”) AM GOING TO THE LOCAL BOOK STORE (OK, MAYBE THE LOCAL LIBRARY FIRST) TO FIND THE VERY NEXT BOOK THAT I WILL BE PUTTING SOME EXTREMELY VALUABLE ‘ME-TIME' ASIDE FOR. WHICH BOOK WOULD YOU GET, IF YOU WERE ME (AND, I SUPPOSE, YOU HADN’T ALREADY READ WHAT YOU’RE ABOUT TO SUGGEST)?

Kevin:Concrete Kids” by Amyra León. She is young new yorker whose freedom of expression inspires the hell out of me.

Andrew: Read Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer if you're interested in indigenous peoples' relationships to the land that is now North America. I like the Earth, and it likes us too when we let it. Shoutout to Alex and Katyann for the rec.

#4 - WHAT IS THE ONE WEBSITE (OR JUST ANY OLD INTERNET THING: APP, GIF, SERVICE, WHATEVER) THAT YOU WOULD GET REALLY DOWN IN THE DUMPS ABOUT IF IT WERE TO SUDDENLY GO AWAY?

Kevin: “man yelling meow at an egg” if you know, you know.

Andrew: I love exploring mixes on the NTS site and have found so much music there lately. Everything is really well archived and tagged, so I'll search for artists I like to see if they've done shows, or search for specific songs to find mixes that might have other songs I'll like... there's a lot of music out there huh.

#5 - AND FINALLY… PLEASE GIVE ONE COMPLETELY UNAIDED RECOMMENDATION THAT YOU THINK EVERYONE SHOULD START DOING / USING / WATCHING / EATING / THINKING / QUITTING / ETC-ING TO MAKE THEIR LIVES A LITTLE BIT MORE BETTER AND/OR BEARABLE.

Andrew: We're all big bicycle fans. Always feel a little bit better during and after a good cruise :)

Logan: Wholeheartedly agree with the bike recommendation. Whether you're going for a gentle cruise or bombing a hill, nothing feels better than the wind on your face :)

Kevin: Also howl with reckless abandon when you need to! Maybe while you're riding your bike. Very helpful.

OK folks, there you have it. Things that The Big Net think you should consider incorporating into your day/life. Before you log off and go do some howling on 2 wheels, make sure to follow The Big Net on the Facebook / Instagram + give ‘Bird’ a listen below…

…and if you like what you’re hearing, go do some further big-net-flavoured audio exploring over on the Bandcamp / Spotify.
