HIGHLY RECOMMENDED W/ ODDS
#1 - WHAT IS THE ONE ALBUM (OR EP OR SONG) THAT YOU THINK SHOULD BE THE VERY NEXT MUSICAL THING THAT EVERYONE PRESSES PLAY ON THE NEXT TIME THEY FIND THEMSELVES THINKING “WHAT SHOULD I LISTEN TO NOW”?
I’ve been marvelling at the new “Dance Til the Stars Come Down” by the Lilac Time.
As a package I’d follow that with “Excelsior” by Steven Page.
#2 - WHAT IS THE ONE MOVIE OR TV SHOW THAT YOU THINK SHOULD BE NEXT IN EVERYBODY’S NETFLIX QUEUE (OK, DOESN’T HAVE TO BE NETFLIX, WE’RE ALL INTERNET ADULTS HERE AND KNOW HOW TO FIND ANYTHING ONLINE, ONE WAY OR ANOTHER)?
The Kids in the Hall reboot series on Amazon Prime. It’s wonderful. I have no vested interest in saying so.
#3. I (AND BY “I” I MEAN “THE PERSON THAT IS READING THIS”) AM GOING TO THE LOCAL BOOK STORE (OK, MAYBE THE LOCAL LIBRARY FIRST) TO FIND THE VERY NEXT BOOK THAT I WILL BE PUTTING SOME EXTREMELY VALUABLE ‘ME-TIME' ASIDE FOR. WHICH BOOK WOULD YOU GET, IF YOU WERE ME (AND, I SUPPOSE, YOU HADN’T ALREADY READ WHAT YOU’RE ABOUT TO SUGGEST)?
“There There” by Tommy Orange.
#4 - WHAT IS THE ONE WEBSITE (OR JUST ANY OLD INTERNET THING: APP, GIF, SERVICE, WHATEVER) THAT YOU WOULD GET REALLY DOWN IN THE DUMPS ABOUT IF IT WERE TO SUDDENLY GO AWAY?
YouTube - the NPR “Tiny Desk Concert” series.
#5 - AND FINALLY… PLEASE GIVE ONE COMPLETELY UNAIDED RECOMMENDATION THAT YOU THINK EVERYONE SHOULD START DOING / USING / WATCHING / EATING / THINKING / QUITTING / ETC-ING TO MAKE THEIR LIVES A LITTLE BIT MORE BETTER AND/OR BEARABLE.
I am late to Yoga, but it sure has been helpful since March of 2020. You don’t have to be good at it and you don’t have to do more than a few minutes to feel better.
OK folks, there you have it. Things that the Odds think you should consider incorporating into your day/life. Before you log off and go do some yoga while watching Kids in the Hall (just me?), make sure to follow Odds on the Instagram / Twitter / Facebook and then also give ‘Fall Guy’ a listen below…
…and if you like what you’re hearing, go do some further odds-flavoured audio exploring over on the Bandcamp / Spotify + for those who didn’t get my “someone who’s cool” reference at the top (or who didn’t click the link), how about we all take a minute to jump back to 1996 and revel in the vibes of a track that I still know all the words to (admittedly, I remember some of the words wrongly / not quite right, but that’s just how you remember songs you liked from before the internet).
