Independent music seems to be trending toward a highly produced, very smooth sound quality. This record is quite the opposite. It's full of analog synths, raw vocals, and solid songwriting. It reminds me of the best parts of DIY culture and connecting with beautiful music a person made in their home out of sheer artistic compulsion and the need to channel emotion.

Burning (2018) by Lee Chang-dong, a Korean psychological thriller.
A beautiful, terrifying film for fans of auteur cinema. Best watched alone with no distractions.

I (AND BY “I” I MEAN “THE PERSON THAT IS READING THIS”) AM GOING TO THE LOCAL BOOK STORE (OK, MAYBE THE LOCAL LIBRARY FIRST) TO FIND THE VERY NEXT BOOK THAT I WILL BE PUTTING SOME EXTREMELY VALUABLE ‘ME-TIME' ASIDE FOR. WHICH BOOK WOULD YOU GET, IF YOU WERE ME (AND, I SUPPOSE, YOU HADN’T ALREADY READ WHAT YOU’RE ABOUT TO SUGGEST)?
