#1 - WHAT IS THE ONE ALBUM (OR EP OR SONG) THAT YOU THINK SHOULD BE THE VERY NEXT MUSICAL THING THAT EVERYONE PRESSES PLAY ON THE NEXT TIME THEY FIND THEMSELVES THINKING “WHAT SHOULD I LISTEN TO NOW”?

Wow! The first question is already tough. There are so many records that I'd love to recommend, but if I have to choose one... I'm going to have to say Neil Young's Harvest.

This record just feels good from the start, especially if it has been a while since I've heard it. It is a win every time though.

#2 - WHAT IS THE ONE MOVIE OR TV SHOW THAT YOU THINK SHOULD BE NEXT IN EVERYBODY’S NETFLIX QUEUE (OK, DOESN’T HAVE TO BE NETFLIX, WE’RE ALL INTERNET ADULTS HERE AND KNOW HOW TO FIND ANYTHING ONLINE, ONE WAY OR ANOTHER)?

'The Devil and Daniel Johnston' is one of my favorite movies to share with people who haven't seen it, and I always sit and watch it with them because I love any excuse to sit down and see it again.

It's a documentary, but it is a bit unreal how wild it is. It's also one of the best documented films I've ever seen because so much of this strange content was recorded/shot/drawn by Daniel Johnston himself. The aesthetic is great. The songs are beautiful and funny to say the least. Plus there are run ins with Sonic Youth and The Butthole Surfers! Definitely one of my favorites.

#3. I (AND BY “I” I MEAN “THE PERSON THAT IS READING THIS”) AM GOING TO THE LOCAL BOOK STORE (OK, MAYBE THE LOCAL LIBRARY FIRST) TO FIND THE VERY NEXT BOOK THAT I WILL BE PUTTING SOME EXTREMELY VALUABLE ‘ME-TIME' ASIDE FOR. WHICH BOOK WOULD YOU GET, IF YOU WERE ME (AND, I SUPPOSE, YOU HADN’T ALREADY READ WHAT YOU’RE ABOUT TO SUGGEST)?

Another tough one. I'm going to go with 'Peace is Every Step" by Thich Nhat Hanh. It is simple, it is helpful, and I am pretty sure it is for everyone.

#4 - WHAT IS THE ONE WEBSITE (OR JUST ANY OLD INTERNET THING: APP, GIF, SERVICE, WHATEVER) THAT YOU WOULD GET REALLY DOWN IN THE DUMPS ABOUT IF IT WERE TO SUDDENLY GO AWAY?

I would be totally bummed if you couldn't find a place to play Fly the Copter anymore. It's not that impressive of a game, but it is very comforting to know that it is still out there. It's a great way to spend a few minutes.

#5 - AND FINALLY… PLEASE GIVE ONE COMPLETELY UNAIDED RECOMMENDATION THAT YOU THINK EVERYONE SHOULD START DOING / USING / WATCHING / EATING / THINKING / QUITTING / ETC-ING TO MAKE THEIR LIVES A LITTLE BIT MORE BETTER AND/OR BEARABLE.

I would say find an instrument you like to interact with and spend a little time with it as often as you feel like it. I wouldn't say studying it or taking it seriously (whatever that means) would be helpful, but it would probably be nice to just have something to touch that you like the sound it makes when you touch it.

You don't have to be "musically inclined" or anything. Maybe try a hand drum or a singing drum ( I've never met anyone who wasn't mesmerized playing one of these), I mean, hell, get yourself a kazoo and hum on that sucker in the car on the way to work. We should all be remembering to have fun, while we still can.

OK folks, there you have it. Things that Denver Williams thinks you should consider incorporating into your day/life. Before you log off and go find your instrument, make sure to follow Denver Williams on the Instagram and then also give ‘Cement and Plastic’ a listen below…

…and if you like what you’re hearing, go do some further denver-williams-flavoured audio exploring over on the Bandcamp / Spotify / Youtube.
