HIGHLY RECOMMENDED W/ STRAY FOSSA
#1 - WHAT IS THE ONE ALBUM (OR EP OR SONG) THAT YOU THINK SHOULD BE THE VERY NEXT MUSICAL THING THAT EVERYONE PRESSES PLAY ON THE NEXT TIME THEY FIND THEMSELVES THINKING “WHAT SHOULD I LISTEN TO NOW”?
Will: The Three E.P.s by The Beta Band
This was one of the first albums I bought as a kid and I often go back to it. It evokes this hazy, lounging-in-the-sun feeling. Emotionally, I find it to be an overall optimistic record, but in a modest, down-to-earth way, which makes it relatable. And the layered, percussive textures never get old.
#2 - WHAT IS THE ONE MOVIE OR TV SHOW THAT YOU THINK SHOULD BE NEXT IN EVERYBODY’S NETFLIX QUEUE (OK, DOESN’T HAVE TO BE NETFLIX, WE’RE ALL INTERNET ADULTS HERE AND KNOW HOW TO FIND ANYTHING ONLINE, ONE WAY OR ANOTHER)?
Zach: Sex Education - great show that ends up bringing up important topics not often talked about in media and pop culture.
#3. I (AND BY “I” I MEAN “THE PERSON THAT IS READING THIS”) AM GOING TO THE LOCAL BOOK STORE (OK, MAYBE THE LOCAL LIBRARY FIRST) TO FIND THE VERY NEXT BOOK THAT I WILL BE PUTTING SOME EXTREMELY VALUABLE ‘ME-TIME' ASIDE FOR. WHICH BOOK WOULD YOU GET, IF YOU WERE ME (AND, I SUPPOSE, YOU HADN’T ALREADY READ WHAT YOU’RE ABOUT TO SUGGEST)?
Nick: To The Lighthouse by Virginia Woolf - I read it three years ago now and it’s one of those books you find yourself thinking about long after you’ve finished it, even after you’ve forgotten much of the plot. Her stream(s) of consciousness style of writing is absorbing and is on full display in this one. It is like a single shot film in narrative form.
#4 - WHAT IS THE ONE WEBSITE (OR JUST ANY OLD INTERNET THING: APP, GIF, SERVICE, WHATEVER) THAT YOU WOULD GET REALLY DOWN IN THE DUMPS ABOUT IF IT WERE TO SUDDENLY GO AWAY?
Stray Fossa: uglyrenaissancebabies.tumblr.com
#5 - AND FINALLY… PLEASE GIVE ONE COMPLETELY UNAIDED RECOMMENDATION THAT YOU THINK EVERYONE SHOULD START DOING / USING / WATCHING / EATING / THINKING / QUITTING / ETC-ING TO MAKE THEIR LIVES A LITTLE BIT MORE BETTER AND/OR BEARABLE.
Zach: Wake up early. Whether it’s to be productive and crank out work or relax outside with a cup of coffee, for me an extra waking hour or two in the morning is essential to making the rest of the day feel a bit more peaceful.
Nick: Buy an actual alarm clock and ban your phone from the bedroom.
Will: Go on a short walk everyday.
OK folks, there you have it. Things that Stray Fossa think you should consider incorporating into your day/life. Before you log off and go buy an alarm clock so you can wake up early for a short walk tomorrow, make sure to follow Stray Fossa on the Facebook / Instagram / Twitter and then also give ‘Diving Line’ a listen below…
…and if you like what you’re hearing, go do some further stray-fossa-flavoured audio exploring over on the Bandcamp / Spotify.
