HIGHLY RECOMMENDED W/ LOGAN AND NATHAN

* Providing the A's to the 5 HIGHLY RECOMMENDED Q's today is Logan and Nathan — a couple of music-makers out of Vancouver who recently dropped a lovely new album called ‘The Happening’ on Fallen Tree Records (and you can catch the track ‘How Does It Feel’ on the latest ‘420 ≠ ALL DAY @ THE HI54LOFI’ update)

#1 - WHAT IS THE ONE ALBUM (OR EP OR SONG) THAT YOU THINK SHOULD BE THE VERY NEXT MUSICAL THING THAT EVERYONE PRESSES PLAY ON THE NEXT TIME THEY FIND THEMSELVES THINKING “WHAT SHOULD I LISTEN TO NOW”?

Logan: I’ve been having dance parties to Khruangbin & Leon Bridges EP Texas Sun. Its been my “pick-me-up album”.

Nathan: I’ve been listening to Jordan Rakei’s album Origin.

#2 - WHAT IS THE ONE MOVIE OR TV SHOW THAT YOU THINK SHOULD BE NEXT IN EVERYBODY’S NETFLIX QUEUE (OK, DOESN’T HAVE TO BE NETFLIX, WE’RE ALL INTERNET ADULTS HERE AND KNOW HOW TO FIND ANYTHING ONLINE, ONE WAY OR ANOTHER)?

Logan: Midnight Gospel on Netflix!

Could I recommend a podcast as well?! Lately, I’ve loved listening to “Tarah Brach” and “The Alarmist”. Tara’s podcast is amazing for guided meditations. She also gives talks on how to move through the world as an emotionally intelligent human and how doing so can shift social realities. This podcast pretty much reminds me to meditate, that I’m not alone and that feeling whatever we are feeling is hard but actually can feel really good. The Alarmist takes historical tragedies and debates on who to blame. It’s funny and I like learning about weird history.

Nathan: Altered Carbon if you're into dystopian sci-fi.

#3. I (AND BY “I” I MEAN “THE PERSON THAT IS READING THIS”) AM GOING TO THE LOCAL BOOK STORE (OK, MAYBE THE LOCAL LIBRARY FIRST) TO FIND THE VERY NEXT BOOK THAT I WILL BE PUTTING SOME EXTREMELY VALUABLE ‘ME-TIME' ASIDE FOR. WHICH BOOK WOULD YOU GET, IF YOU WERE ME (AND, I SUPPOSE, YOU HADN’T ALREADY READ WHAT YOU’RE ABOUT TO SUGGEST)?

Logan: Songs of Trees by David George Haskel. This has been my favourite book for a year. l. I also loved Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens and American Dirt by Jeanie Cummins.

Nathan: Effortless Mastery by Kenny Werner, he’s a jazz pianist and it's his approach to practice and mastering your instrument, or anything that involves practice.

#4 - WHAT IS THE ONE WEBSITE (OR JUST ANY OLD INTERNET THING: APP, GIF, SERVICE, WHATEVER) THAT YOU WOULD GET REALLY DOWN IN THE DUMPS ABOUT IF IT WERE TO SUDDENLY GO AWAY?

Logan: Zoom! Its been nice to connect with Family and Friends in a virtual way.

Nathan: Sound on Sound, or TapeOp. A lot of talk about recording techniques and interviews with artist/engineers/producers.

#5 - AND FINALLY… PLEASE GIVE ONE COMPLETELY UNAIDED RECOMMENDATION THAT YOU THINK EVERYONE SHOULD START DOING / USING / WATCHING / EATING / THINKING / QUITTING / ETC-ING TO MAKE THEIR LIVES A LITTLE BIT MORE BETTER AND/OR BEARABLE.

Nathan: Riding your bike on the Seawall is amazing, I’d say get outside to where you find beauty.

Logan: Create something! Be gentle on yourself but also show up and get shit done.

OK folks, there you have it. Things that Logan and Nathan think you should consider incorporating into your day/life. Before you log off and hop on your bike to go create something, make sure to follow Logan and Nathan on the Facebook / Instagram / Twitter and then also give ‘How Does It Feel’ a listen below…

…and if you like what you’re hearing, go do some further logan&nathan-flavoured audio exploring over on the Spotify / Youtube.
