Mix Tape Radio on FRUK: Episode 025
25 episodes. I started compiling these mix tapes for Folk Radio UK all the way back in July 2012. Counting this episode, there has been a grand total of 418 songs featured from 342 different artists. That's a lot of tunes. Hopefully you've been enjoying.
After the briefest of consideration, I decided to not do some sort of '25th Episode Special' to celebrate. Instead, I just put together another hour of solid tunes. Episode 25 starts off with Townes Van Zandt's darkly beautiful tune about ‘the homeless of the land’, which is made extra nice by how him and Willie Nelson trade lines on it. Although, if you get down to where the episode started off in my head, then Episode 25 really starts off with Wilco's ‘I Am Trying To Break You Heart’ (speaking of which, have you seen the great documentary of the same name?). But you'll have to hang around until the middle part of the mix tape before you'll hear that brilliant track fade in from We Are Trees and fall off into a Will Johnson / Colateral Soundtrack ‘medley'. In fact, I'd just recommend you listen to the whole thing. That way you won't miss out on lovely stuff from Snow Mantled Love, King Straggler, Wyatt Overman, Jake Klar, Hozier, Yellow Ostrich and more.
So press play if you haven't already… and happy 25th anniversary / thanks for listening.

Also, if you are looking for a little more music to get you through the day, you can always swing by the HI54LOFI Mixcloud page and listen to all 25 episodes of the show. Or, swing by iTunes and download the last 24 shows (Episode 25 will go up on iTunes in the next week or so… so wouldn't be a bad idea to click the subscribe button while you're there). And of course, there is also the 24hr stream of tunes that is the Mix Tape Radio internet radio station.
