HIGHLY RECOMMENDED W/ SEABUCKTHORN

* Providing the A's to the 5 HIGHLY RECOMMENDED Q's today is Andy Cartwright aka Seabuckthorn — a multi-instrumentalist from the UK whose latest album 'A House With Too Much Fire' is yet another musical brain massage from Andy that you should make sure to listen/get asap.

#1 - WHAT IS THE ONE ALBUM (OR EP OR SONG) THAT YOU THINK SHOULD BE THE VERY NEXT MUSICAL THING THAT EVERYONE PRESSES PLAY ON THE NEXT TIME THEY FIND THEMSELVES THINKING “WHAT SHOULD I LISTEN TO NOW”?

Noplace by Aidan Baker / Simon Goff / Thor Harris

I first heard this on the road whilst touring. They strike a perfect balance between cyclical rolling drums, soaring violins & ambient guitar. It's engineered so well too and I hope it's not a one album project.

#2 - WHAT IS THE ONE MOVIE OR TV SHOW THAT YOU THINK SHOULD BE NEXT IN EVERYBODY’S NETFLIX QUEUE (OK, DOESN’T HAVE TO BE NETFLIX, WE’RE ALL INTERNET ADULTS HERE AND KNOW HOW TO FIND ANYTHING ONLINE, ONE WAY OR ANOTHER)?

The Terror. I watched this series recently. Not my favourite, but well worth the watch.

The score in particular is incredible with a lot of interesting moments and it really suits the mysterious arctic mood. Also the set design is well done. But True Detective and Twin Peaks are my favourites by far. I'm not gonna go into movies, that would take too long to decide my one fav.

#3. I (AND BY “I” I MEAN “THE PERSON THAT IS READING THIS”) AM GOING TO THE BOOK STORE (OK, PROBABLY AMAZON) TO FIND THE VERY NEXT BOOK THAT I WILL BE PUTTING SOME EXTREMELY VALUABLE ‘ME-TIME' ASIDE FOR. WHICH BOOK WOULD YOU GET, IF YOU WERE ME (AND, I SUPPOSE, YOU HADN’T ALREADY READ WHAT YOU’RE ABOUT TO SUGGEST)?

Shadows Of The Silk Road by Colin Thubron. I've read most of his travel literature, this one is an account of a 7 months journey through the old silk passage from China to Turkey.

He has a rich, poetic style of writing all his observations and articulates history along the way.

#4 - WHAT IS THE ONE WEBSITE (OR JUST ANY OLD INTERNET THING: APP, GIF, SERVICE, WHATEVER) THAT YOU WOULD GET REALLY DOWN IN THE DUMPS ABOUT IF IT WERE TO SUDDENLY GO AWAY?

Bandcamp. I think it's the best platform for musicians, as well as being easy for fans to discover new music through other fans collections and support the artists directly.

To me, most other platforms are lacking in a few areas or are just soulless.

#5 - AND FINALLY… PLEASE GIVE ONE COMPLETELY UNAIDED RECOMMENDATION THAT YOU THINK EVERYONE SHOULD START DOING / USING / WATCHING / EATING / THINKING / QUITING / ETC-ING TO MAKE THEIR LIVES A LITTLE BIT MORE BETTER AND/OR BEARABLE.

Do long mountain walks. It always succeeds in clearing my head by way of reflection and generally inspires fresh ideas.

OK folks, there you have it. Things that Seabuckthorn thinks you should consider incorporating into your day/life. Before you log off and go hike up that mountain over yonder, make sure to follow Andy on the Facebook / Instagram and do your ears a favour and go listen to 'A House With Too Much Fire' over on Bandcamp.
