HIGHLY RECOMMENDED W/ JULIE ARSENAULT
#1 - WHAT IS THE ONE ALBUM (OR EP OR SONG) THAT YOU THINK SHOULD BE THE VERY NEXT MUSICAL THING THAT EVERYONE PRESSES PLAY ON THE NEXT TIME THEY FIND THEMSELVES THINKING “WHAT SHOULD I LISTEN TO NOW”?
Sam Tudor is a singer/songwriter/producer I've admired for a couple of years. He's from western Canada originally I believe, but I was fortunate to play a couple of shows with him in Toronto.
Some of his words make the ever so slightest lisp sound, which is this youthful and endearing quality that as a vocalist, I appreciate so much. It's really special, and I find his lyrics very relatable.
#2 - WHAT IS THE ONE MOVIE OR TV SHOW THAT YOU THINK SHOULD BE NEXT IN EVERYBODY’S NETFLIX QUEUE (OK, DOESN’T HAVE TO BE NETFLIX, WE’RE ALL INTERNET ADULTS HERE AND KNOW HOW TO FIND ANYTHING ONLINE, ONE WAY OR ANOTHER)?
Well, first: I recommend using DuckDuckGo instead of Google if you're trying to stream anything for free.
I am a fan of the Mary Poppins remake, and the orig. My mom had a vhs recording of it - like when you would record something special that was playing on tv, sort of like dvr I guess but more work. The tape had "Julie Andrews" written on it. I thought that meant the tape belonged to my brother and I (his first name is Andrew). So, since it was taped especially for me, I watched it every day. It is magical.
#3. I (AND BY “I” I MEAN “THE PERSON THAT IS READING THIS”) AM GOING TO THE LOCAL BOOK STORE (OK, MAYBE THE LOCAL LIBRARY FIRST) TO FIND THE VERY NEXT BOOK THAT I WILL BE PUTTING SOME EXTREMELY VALUABLE ‘ME-TIME' ASIDE FOR. WHICH BOOK WOULD YOU GET, IF YOU WERE ME (AND, I SUPPOSE, YOU HADN’T ALREADY READ WHAT YOU’RE ABOUT TO SUGGEST)?
I am very fidgety and anxious so I need to be constantly moving, which is why I prefer short stories. I recommend A Guide to Being Born by Ramona Ausubel - if you're looking for a little insight on what goes on inside my brain.
Also, anything from the series "A Global History of [insert different types of food eg: Cake, Rice, Garlic] by different authors". The only one I've finished is "The Global History of Chocolate" by Sarah Moss and Alexander Badenoch. I'm obsessed with chocolate and the history of it is so salacious, and I am not surprised.
#4 - WHAT IS THE ONE WEBSITE (OR JUST ANY OLD INTERNET THING: APP, GIF, SERVICE, WHATEVER) THAT YOU WOULD GET REALLY DOWN IN THE DUMPS ABOUT IF IT WERE TO SUDDENLY GO AWAY?
She is a goddess and I cherish her lol. I would miss her a lot, a lot.
#5 - AND FINALLY… PLEASE GIVE ONE COMPLETELY UNAIDED RECOMMENDATION THAT YOU THINK EVERYONE SHOULD START DOING / USING / WATCHING / EATING / THINKING / QUITTING / ETC-ING TO MAKE THEIR LIVES A LITTLE BIT MORE BETTER AND/OR BEARABLE.
I recommend the YouTube channel "Yoga with Adriene".
She has recently been dubbed the Patron Saint of Quarantine. She showed me how to love myself, which is such an amazing gift.
OK folks, there you have it. Things that Julie Arsenault thinks you should consider incorporating into your day/life. Before you go DuckDuckGo what to do next, make sure to follow Julie on the Instagram and then also give the ‘Good Mourning’ re-release a listen below…
