HIGHLY RECOMMENDED W/ EL TEE

* Providing the A's to the 5 HIGHLY RECOMMENDED Q's today is El Tee, an American transplant in Australia with a lovely new EP called 'Radio Silence' available over on Bandcamp.

#1 - WHAT IS THE ONE ALBUM (OR EP OR SONG) THAT YOU THINK SHOULD BE THE VERY NEXT MUSICAL THING THAT EVERYONE PRESSES PLAY ON THE NEXT TIME THEY FIND THEMSELVES THINKING “WHAT SHOULD I LISTEN TO NOW”?

Candy (of Melbourne, Australia) recently released their single "Apartment in the City" which is my most recent favorite.

Perfect jangly dream pop vibes. I saw them play live last month, and this was the last song they played and definitely my favorite of the set. The following week they released it as a single – confident that the next thing coming from Candy will be just as great.

#2 - WHAT IS THE ONE MOVIE OR TV SHOW THAT YOU THINK SHOULD BE NEXT IN EVERYBODY’S NETFLIX QUEUE (OK, DOESN’T HAVE TO BE NETFLIX, WE’RE ALL INTERNET ADULTS HERE AND KNOW HOW TO FIND ANYTHING ONLINE, ONE WAY OR ANOTHER)?

Queer Eye. If you want to laugh, cry, be inspired and be served a modest (but fair amount for mainstream TV) of discourse re: challenging and breaking down male gender roles / expectations, this is for you. Or everyone. Everyone should watch it.

#3. I (AND BY “I” I MEAN “THE PERSON THAT IS READING THIS”) AM GOING TO THE BOOK STORE (OK, PROBABLY AMAZON) TO FIND THE VERY NEXT BOOK THAT I WILL BE PUTTING SOME EXTREMELY VALUABLE ‘ME-TIME' ASIDE FOR. WHICH BOOK WOULD YOU GET, IF YOU WERE ME (AND, I SUPPOSE, YOU HADN’T ALREADY READ WHAT YOU’RE ABOUT TO SUGGEST)?

Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind by Yuval Noah Harari. I've been slowly reading this book for the last several months and constantly find myself bringing up it up in conversation. There's plenty of good, information in their regarding the history of, well, us, but the author is also a great storyteller.

A lot of what's in there sheds light onto the behavior of us as humans, individually and as a society, giving explanation to why we are the way we are.

#4 - WHAT IS THE ONE WEBSITE (OR JUST ANY OLD INTERNET THING: APP, GIF, SERVICE, WHATEVER) THAT YOU WOULD GET REALLY DOWN IN THE DUMPS ABOUT IF IT WERE TO SUDDENLY GO AWAY?

This is a hard one, but at the risk of sounding shallow or gluttonous, Uber eats.

It's saved me many times from death of hunger, and death of hangover.

#5 - AND FINALLY… PLEASE GIVE ONE COMPLETELY UNAIDED RECOMMENDATION THAT YOU THINK EVERYONE SHOULD START DOING / USING / WATCHING / EATING / THINKING / QUITING / ETC-ING TO MAKE THEIR LIVES A LITTLE BIT MORE BETTER AND/OR BEARABLE.

Self care. Do something just for yourself every day. Not because you have to, but because you deserve it - whether it's cooking yourself a nice meal, taking a bath, exercising, meditating, binging on a TV show, buying yourself a gift, whatever.

Do it and do it for you and no one else. You are unconditionally important!

OK folks, there you have it. Things that El Tee thinks you should consider incorporating into your day/life. Before you log off and go treat your self to a little self care, make sure to follow El Tee on Facebook and go give that new EP a spin over on Bandcamp.
