Russell Brand v. Sean Hannity
I know these videos came out a week ago, but as I mentioned in yesterday's post, I've been a bit slammed with work and took a lazy day in bed to catch up on a few things. One being the new Spoon album and the other being Russell Brand's great video response to the ‘horrible human being that somehow has a tv show’ that is Sean Hannity. And I guess, if I'm being honest, the other thing was a documentary on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (did you know that Uncle Phil from Fresh Prince was the voice of Shredder?!).
If you haven't watched these Russell Brand videos yet -the video above being the first one, and the video below being the follow-up- you totally should.
Like it is for a lot of people (I would hope most if not everybody), this whole Gaza thing is more than a little upsetting to me. The other week, as I was preparing a post about some song I liked, I happened to click on a very grim video from the streets of Gaza (i.e. grim as in footage of injured and dead people everywhere) and it really made my post about some song I liked feel a little bit trivial (which, of course, it was). Unfortunately, I'm just more wired for the passing on of music I like than commenting on the serious and horrible and complex issues that are going on in the world, even though I totally realize that those things are much more important.
So I'll just share these videos from Russell, as they express where my head is at with Gaza (i.e. it's horrible and more complex than the major media outlets try to frame things) and they also point out how fucking horrible institutions like Fox News are.
