The other night, just before I was about to turn off the computer and go to bed (the Danish in-laws are visiting, so it's early nights and early mornings around these parts for the next week) Benjamin Shaw / Audio Antihero decided to unleash a single from Mr. Shaw's upcoming new album Goodbye, Cagoule World (as Ben tweeted, “Market research says 12.20am is the best time to announce a new album/single”). I wanted to post about this yesterday, but in between trips to the market, constantly referring to Google Translate, and many games of Yahtzee (you don't need to speak the same language when you're rolling hot dice like I was), I just didn't have time.
Well, I've managed to sneak away from the craft project going on in the basement right now to do “some work on the computer”. Of course, that “work” is basically just me embedding this Benjamin Shaw single and then letting you all know how much I really think you should pre-order the album (I went with the Stress Ball option). I've listened to the un-mastered version of the full album awhile back, and I can assure you that it is another rainy day, headphones on, early morning bus ride to a job you're not that keen on, front-to-back gem of an album, the kind that Benjamin Shaw is a master at making (i.e. see his previous stuff). In fact, Ben sent me the album right before I went on vacation to Portugal and it was agreed upon that I wouldn't listen to the album while laying on the beach, but rather wait until I was on the plane ride back to England. It's one of those albums… but let's be real here folks, life is full of moments that need those kinds of albums (it ain't all sunshine and promotions).
So, please give the single a listen (and watch the video as well… it features cats & dogs & a sad yarn rabbit & actual rabbits) and then get out your digital wallets and pre-order this album. The full thing is out in April, and you don't want to be the only person walking around in their cagoule without this album playing under the hood.
